RW Racing GP and Livio Loi today got the most out of rain affected second day in Jerez.
Loi was third fastest in the morning session and ended the day in excellent seventh overall after reaching that position in the second session, just before the rain came in again.
The second session began as good as dry, but with some damp spots left on parts of the track that were in the shade. Nevertheless the conditions were good enough to go out on slick tyres and Loi was fast from the beginning. Just when he was back in the garage for some adjustments and new tyres it began to drizzle. Loi took his chances, knowing he only had few minutes left before the track would be wet again, and set his best lap time of 1.49,401 just before the drizzle turned into rain.
“We’ve been pretty lucky with the weather today. In the morning session it took me some time to find my rhythm on rain tyres, but once I was used to it, it went quite well. I didn’t take too much risks but ended in third anyway. In the second session the circumstances were much better, although I still had to be careful with a few damp spots on the track. I came back on track with fresh tyres at just the right moment. I’m happy with the bike and obviously with the results too. Third in the wet and seventh in the dry is just fine.”
