Baz: “I had the pace to be with Folger and Petrucci”

Frenchman frustrated after being forced off on the first lap

Loris Baz (Reale Avintia Racing) had a good top ten grid position and went straight through to Q2 in Argentina, before finding his race hampered by an incident between Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) and Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and being forced to take evasive action and leave the track on Lap 1.

Avoiding a fallen Lorenzo, Baz rejoined a little further back and was forced to use a lot of tyre to get back in the mix - staging a stunning comeback through the field to catch the group ahead but then unable to attack. The #NotTooTall Frenchman was forced to settle for P11, hoping for better luck in Austin.

Loris Baz, P11: “I'm disappointed because I think we could make a great race today. But I lost all my options when Jorge fell just ahead in the first corner, I had to get off the track so I didn’t not over him and lost a lot of time. Then I pushed hard to recover and I managed to reach the Miller and Abraham group, but my front tyre was broken and I couldn’t attack. It's a shame because I think I had pace to be with Folger and Petrucci. But in general I think it has been a very positive weekend, the team has done a great job and we have improved again. In Austin I hope to have better luck."
