Folger sets new lap record in Moto2™ FP1

Folger sets new lap record in Moto2™ FP1

AGR Team’s Jonas Folger ends FP1 on top as grip-levels improve at the Termas De Rio Hondo in Argentina.

The Moto2™ riders took to the circuit at the Termas de Rio Hondo with track temperatures of 24 degrees despite some ominous looking clouds overhead. Most riders tried to use the same tyres throughout the session in an effort to continue the work done by those throughout the morning, with the aim being to clean the track and improve grip-levels as the weekend goes on.

It appeared to be working as times dropped throughout the session, with AGR Team’s Jonas Folger setting a new lap record of 1’43.816, almost a tenth quicker than the fastest lap set at the circuit by Tito Rabat last year.

Reigning Moto2™ World Champion Tito Rabat (+0.223s) was second fastest on the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing Kalex, ahead of Athina Forward Racing’s Lorenzo Baldassari (+0.242s).

Franco Morbidelli (Italtrans Racing Team) heads the provisional second row ahead of Thomas Luthi on the Derendinger Racing Interwetten machine and Ajo Motorsport's Johann Zarco, with the winner from Austin, Speed Up Racing’s Sam Lowes in 7th.
