Lowes: “We tried a lot of different things today”

Sam Lowes finishes the opening day of practice at the Gran Premio bwin de España in second overall.

Britain’s Sam Lowes was second in FP1 in the slightly cooler morning conditions that saw many riders set their best times of the day. The afternoon session of FP2 saw the track temperature rise, causing many riders including Lowes to struggle with grip. These quite different track conditions did give Lowes and his Speed Up team an opportunity to test a variety of settings on the bike. The Austin race winner ended FP2 in seventh position, but is eager to carry on experimenting with bike setting tomorrow.

Sam Lowes:
“Today was quite good we ended second overall but seventh in FP2. When the track got hot this afternoon we had some small problems but I’m overall quite happy.  I think tomorrow we can improve a lot and I’m feeling good even though we struggled for grip. Hopefully tomorrow we can make another step. We tried a lot of different things today; we tried a new link and a completely new shock setting.  It’s the first time that we’ve tried it on this bike but it wasn’t so good. Tomorrow we’ll go in a different direction with another link and hopefully it can be good.”
