Leopard Racing’s Efren Vazquez ended the first Moto3™ Free Practice session on top at the Circuito de Jerez.
Vazquez was battling throughout the session with his teammate Danny Kent, and at one point, the two riders were over half a second ahead of the rest of the field.
It was the Spaniard who would end the session on top, after his compatriot Isaac Viñales had briefly gone quickest with just a few minutes to go. Vazquez responded to post a 1’47.088 to top the session on his very last lap.
The Husqvarna Factory Laglisse of Viñales (+0.323s) was in second ahead of Kent (+0.370s), who had been knocked down to third by the end of the session.
Fabio Quartararo (+0.796s) was 4th fastest on the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda, ahead of Romano Fenati on the SKY racing Team VR46 KTM, and Gresini Racing Team Moto3’s Enea Bastianini in sixth.
Niccolo Antonelli, Jakub Kornfeil, Karel Hanika and Niklas Ajo completed the top ten, as riders got themselves re-acquainted with the Jerez track.
