Kent: “It’s a dream start to the season”

Leopard Racing’s Danny Kent discusses his last corner victory in the Moto3™ race at the Circuito de Jerez.

Danny Kent was the joker in today’s final corner battle for victory when young Frenchman Fabio Quartararo was a bit too aggressive on the brakes to lose control on his Honda machinery and hit Kent. Fortunate all riders involved in this incident were lucky to remain on their bikes. Englishman Kent went out of the corner in first position and defended the lead in a superb way till the finish line to conclude the Spanish Grand Prix victorious. It was Kent’s third race win out of four races this season. In doing so he extended his lead in the championship to 31 points over his team mate Efren Vazquez.

Danny Kent:
“This race was a lot more difficult compared to last time when I was pulling away at the front. Today it was a lot different because all race long I was involved in a big battle fighting for the leading position, it was a nice fight with the KTM riders, as well as with Fabio, but it was impossible to pull away. So I decided to stay with them and to see where their strengthens are and where I was stronger. In races like this you’ve to be clever and stay calm sometimes, but today everything worked out perfectly. Anyway, going into the final lap it came down to a fight but I felt very strong, the tyres were good and also the bike was in perfect shape. I think it was a bit of a rookie mistake, Fabio did in the final corner as he tried to push a bit too much. Fortunately we all stayed on the bike and I crossed the line in first. So a big thanks to my team, to all sponsors as well to my family and my manager for all their support. You know it’s a dream start to the season with three wins out of four races but we need to keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard in order to collect as many valuable points in every single race.”
