Mir: second place “like a victory”

Majorcan happy with P2 at a very rain-soaked Misano

Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) took a solid second place in the San Marino GP to keep his control over the Moto3™ World Championship, with the win feeling like a victory given the difficult conditions. Although key rival Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) won the race, Mir’s gap is still a sizeable 61 points at the top of the table as the paddock heads for Aragon – home turf for the Leopard rider.

The poduim finisher also congratulated Fenati on the win and extended his best wishes to teammate Livio Loi, who broke his collarbone in a crash during qualifying.

Joan Mir, P2: “It was really difficult to manage the race because it was difficult to be on the bike! But I’m happy for the result. This is like a victory for me because normally wet conditions are not my strongest point. And I want to congratulate Romano for the victory and his impressive pace, and I wish Livio a speedy recovery. Next is Aragon, I track I really enjoy and I have good memories there. I hope to do a good race and I’m looking forward to it.”
