Redding: “My hand started to go numb”

Redding: “My hand started to go numb”

A season best result of seventh for Scott Redding at Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Scott Redding battled high temperatures to secure his best result since joining the rookie MotoGP™ team. The British rider also had to combat an issue with his right hand that restricted his braking ability after 15 laps.

Redding spent much of the race battling with Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar), the pair running wide through Turn 1 together at a point. The high temperatures resulted in a greasy track surface, the combination of this and Redding’s numb hand forced him to settle for seventh rather than attempt to chase Viñales down.

Scott Redding: “That was definitely one of my best races of the year and I managed to hold onto the second group for a while and that is really positive for me. My hand started to go a little bit numb after 15-laps and I was struggling to release the brake gently but I am happy to finish the race in a positive mood. The track was obviously very tricky in the heat with so many riders crashing, but my feeling in the first laps was not so bad and I’m happy to equal my best result in MotoGP. We have to build on this now and make sure we can finish regularly inside the top 10.”
