 Lowes leaves it late to top Moto2™ FP1

Sam Lowes set the fastest time at the end of FP1 to finish fastest ahead of Swiss riders Dominique Aegerter and Thomas Luthi.

Bright sunshine and track temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius greeted the Moto2™ field as Sam Lowes finished FP1 on top with a 1’38.146.

The Speed Up Racing British rider, sporting a new livery, finished just 0.059s ahead of Dominique Aegerter on the Technomag Racing Interwetten Kalex. Aegerter’s Swiss compatriot Thomas Luthi (+0.176s), on the Derendinger Interwetten Kalex, was third with reigning Moto2™ World Champion, EG 0,0 Marc VDS’s Tito Rabat (0+460s), in fourth.

QMMF Racing’s Julian Simon (+0.560s) was the surprise package in fifth, ahead of current Championship leader Johann Zarco (+0.561s) on the Ajo Motorsport Kalex in sixth.

Jonas Folger (AGR Team), Simone Corsi (Athina Forward Racing), Xavier Simeon (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) and Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) completed the top ten.
