Vazquez: “I did absolutely nothing with bikes”

Efren Vazquez was surprised to top the first day of practice at the Indianapolis GP after not touching a bike during the summer break

The Spaniard, who was victorious at Indianapolis last year, didn’t expect to find his rhythm on the bike so quickly after having spent three weeks away from his Honda. Despite this, he managed to top the timesheets with a 1’41.266, 0.238s ahead of his teammate Kent in third.

Efren Vazquez: “Of course a perfect day for us to conclude Friday with the fastest lap time. But at the same time it came all a bit surprisingly because all other riders continued their training programme with motorbikes, whereas I didn’t touch any bike such as an Enduro or Motocross machine for example. I did absolutely nothing with bikes in the last weeks. Anyway, I arrived highly motivated for this race because I like Indianapolis a lot, but in any case it was a surprise that I got a good feeling and rhythm immediately. So a good day at all.”
