Bautista: “Our work keeps going”

The bwin Grand Prix České republiky saw Alvaro Bautista battle with his teammate for more solid points.

Alvaro Bautista and Aprilia Racing Team Gresini continue their steady progress in developing the Aprilia RS-GP machine. The Spaniard finished Sunday’s race in 13th position after a long battle with Aprilia teammate Stefan Bradl who has just two races on the bike. Braking during the early laps proved troublesome for Bautista, unable to gain on the group ahead as quickly as he had hoped. Fortunately as the race went on the problem improved and the former 125cc World Champion set about overtaking the many riders ahead.

Had he not had the issues at the start of the race Bautista is confident he could have fought for 11th with the likes of Yonny Hernandez (Octo Pramac Racing) and Scott Redding (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS). With 16 points in the World Championship standings, Bautista sits just one point ahead of Baz.

Alvaro Bautista: “This was a hard but fun race. I had a good start, but on the first lap I lost the advantage I had gained. So I set my pace. At the beginning I was struggling a bit to stop the bike but lap after lap the situation improved. I had a lot of riders in front of me and that complicated matters. I enjoyed overtaking but the fact that I had the pace to make a play for eleventh place leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Our work keeps going. Even during the Warm Up a small change helped me to find more feeling with the bike over race distance. I would like to thank my team for all of their help on such a demanding weekend.”
