Laverty: “Silverstone was hugely positive for us”

A strong British GP has Eugene Laverty aiming for another strong weekend at the San Marino GP.

The MotoGP™ World Championship paddock head to the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini for round 13 of the 2015 season and Eugene Laverty is expecting a lot. A strong weekend in Silverstone saw the Irishmen towards the top of the Open class for the majority of the weekend. Rain on Sunday ended his hopes of challenging for Open class victory on Sunday, but the Aspar MotoGP team rider saw the British GP weekend as an overall positive. He now heads to Misano excited to see what the track will hold.

Laverty has experience around the Misano circuit from his World Superbike days, but has yet to sample the new track surface. Initial tests by other MotoGP™ teams and riders suggest that times will drop with the improved grip. Points will once again be the aim for Laverty on Sunday as he continues to learn and adapt to the MotoGP™ class.

Eugene Laverty: “The last round at Silverstone was hugely positive for us. The rain on Sunday scuppered our plans somewhat but under dry conditions we were consistently the fastest Open class bike all weekend. I'm really excited to continue our progress in Misano. The circuit has a new surface so I expect lap times to improve by around one second compared to last year. Our expectations have risen over the past few rounds as we've continued to make good steps forward with our Open Honda. The team have done a fantastic job in giving me the best possible bike since the summer break and I aim to repay their hard work with a points-scoring finish on Sunday."
