Oliveira: “I was confident and I gave everything”

Oliveira: “I was confident and I gave everything”

A third win of the season moves Miguel Oliveira into third in the Moto3™ World Championship.

A hard fought victory saw Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Miguel Oliveira take to the top step of the podium for the third time in 2015. A second consecutive podium also boost the only Portueges rider in the World Championship to third overall, his closest rivals falling on the final lap. The KTM mounted rider rode a perfect final lap, avoiding drama and masterfully utlising the slipstream after having led the majority of the race. At no point in the race did Oliveira have a chance to relax, constantly defending from the 10 hungry Moto3™ riders behind him.

With four races left in the 2015 season, there are still 100 points left to claim. With a 75 point gap to Danny Kent (Leopard Racing), becoming World Champion is mathematically possible for Oliveira, but would requite Kent to experience extreme bad luck. Second in the championship remains a realistic goal, Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Team Moto3) is just 20 points ahead, having failed to finish the Aragon GP. Not only is Oliveira third in the championship, but he also has the honour of being top KTM rider.

Miguel Oliveira: “It was a bit chaotic, but it was a fun race. I really enjoyed myself on the bike. This weekend has been very good for us, finishing in the top three in each session. Yesterday we did not have much luck in the fight for pole position, but in the race today we did a good job. I noticed throughout the race that I had a big chance of victory, I was confident and I gave everything to make it so. This win is very important for the overall standings. We must continue like this.”
