Meet the Wildcards: Malaysia

Meet the Wildcards: Malaysia

Malaysian wildcards have sent crowds into a frenzy with great performances, a lone warrior seeks to repeat history in 2015.

The Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix will see just a lone Moto2™ rider line up alongside the regular World Championship contenders. For the second time in 2015 Ramdan Rosli will mount his Kalex with the Petronas AHM Malaysia team and compete on the world stage. Rosli’s previous wildcard came during the Catalan GP where he qualified in 32nd and finished 26th, a commendable debut in the intermediate class.

As with many up and coming riders, Rosli currently competes in the CEV Moto2™ European Championship as he continues to grow as a rider. His debut season in Moto2™ has seen him score points on four occasions with a best finish of ninth place achieved in both Aragon and Albacete. Rosli is hoping to replicate Hafizh Syahrin’s stunning podium in 2012.

Having qualified down in 27th Syahrin, now a full time rider with the Petronas Raceline Malaysia team, cut through the field in the wet race and was battling with the likes of Andrea Iannone and Mika Kallio.  Although originally finishing the race in fourth, Syahrin was awarded third after another rider was disqualified. This still stands as the best finish of a Malaysian rider in the Moto2™ class, a truly amazing achievement for a wildcard.
