Hayden: “This is going to be my last ride in MotoGP”

Nicky Hayden prepares for the final race of his incredible MotoGP™ World Championship journey.

Since joining the MotoGP™ World Championship in 2003, Nicky Hayden has become on of the most recognizable names and faces in the paddock. His career has run through a variety of highs, a World Championship in 2006, as well as several rough patches. Unfortunately the Kentucky Kid’s MotoGP™ adventure has come to a close and the Valencia GP will be his last race before he moves to WorldSBK in 2016. The Valencia circuit holds fond memories for the American who took the 2006 World Championship at the circuit with a third place finish. Known for its tight layout, the circuit should allow many of the Open riders to fight for more competitive finishes, as there is less reliance on raw power.

With 16 points Hayden currently sits 20th in the world standings, just one point behind Jack Miller (LCR Honda) who is the leading Open Honda rider. A strong result in his last race could pull Hayden up to 18th overall. As shown in 2012 and 2014, the weather in Valencia can be wild and a surprise top five finish could be achievable by the Aspar MotoGP Team rider with a tyre gamble or a wet race. Ahead of the grand prix Hayden will be inducted into the MotoGP™ Hall of Fame as a MotoGP™ Legend.

Nicky Hayden: “Well it's Valencia, the last race of the season! Valencia is a track I enjoy. It's kind of small but I really like the atmosphere and the layout. It is a very tough track because you really have to hit your marks and put all of the corners together because each one kind of leads into the next. It's also a place that holds great memories for me and we know this is going to be my last ride in MotoGP so I am looking forward to trying to have some fun there this weekend. I know it won't be an easy weekend but I am desperate to leave with a smile and I am looking forward to it very much.”
