Rabat: “My only focus has been on recovery”

Rabat: “My only focus has been on recovery”

Tito Rabat will make his racing return for the final round of the year at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana.

After missing all three of the flyaway races, Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS’ Tito Rabat will make his return to the Moto2™ World Championship in Valencia. This will be Rabat’s last ride in the intermediate class as he moves up to the MotoGP™ World Championship with his team for the 2016 season. While his chance to defend his title has slipped away, Rabat is still in the hunt for second in the championship and currently sits eight points behind Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP 40), each with two victories in 2015. Since returning to Europe after Australia, Rabat has undergone intensive rehabilitation in order to improve strength and mobility in his wrist.

In 2014 Rabat narrowly missed victory at Valencia, an issue with his bike causing him to slow in the closing seconds of the race and surrender the lead. Rabat is not only out to change his own fortunes at Valencia, but is also aiming to take Kalex’s first win at the circuit, Suter dominating the Moto2™ class there in recent years. Rabat and his Marc VDS team are still unsure of what their goal for the weekend is and will wait till Friday to fully understand how Rabat’s wrist will perform.

Tito Rabat: “Since returning from Australia my only focus has been on recovery, with three hours of physiotherapy on my injured left arm every day in addition to my normal training. The arm is now much stronger than it was in Japan and Australia and the articulation in my wrist is also a lot better, so I’m confident that I am ready to return to racing. I head to Valencia with no expectations; we will set goals for the weekend only once I’ve ridden the bike on Friday, after which I will have a much better idea of what is possible. This will be my last race in the Moto2 class, so I’d like to bow out with a good result on Sunday, before preparing myself for the MotoGP test on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
