A difficult final day in Sepang for Andrea Dovizioso who battles rain and mechanical issues.
Action was delayed as the third and final day of the Sepang test got underway due to overnight rain. Once the track was dry, Andrea Dovizioso ventured out on track in order to continue comparing his GP15 with the bike Ducati plan to run in 2016. A midday downpour sent everyone into the pits, when the grid was able to return to track Dovizioso unfortunately encountered a technical problem and was unable to set a final fast time. Over the three days the Italian managed a best time of 2’01.675, placing him a disappointing 16th on combined times. In two weeks Phillip Island will host the next test, again this will be a three day event.
Andrea Dovizioso: “Today was more difficult than yesterday, because we had a few issues that unfortunately we could not resolve here and which slowed us the entire day. In the morning I didn’t do many laps because I had to wait for the track conditions to improve, and then it began to rain. In the afternoon we started right away, and soon set a good time. We did some tests with used tyres and the bike improved but we encountered another problem towards the end of the session. We stayed in the box until the final part, but I was unable to make any more improvements when I went out. I didn’t put in as many laps as I would have liked, which was important for me to adapt to the new Michelins. It’s a pity, but I feel sure that in Australia we will be able to carry out our programme better once we’ve solved the problems back home.”
