Barbera: “We are meeting our goals”

Barbera: “We are meeting our goals”

Hector Barbera made up for a wasted first day by ending day two of the Phillip Island test in sixth and the leading Ducati.

Barbera did not exit the pits on the first day of the test as he only has one GP14.2 at his disposal and did not want to take any unnecessary risks. Therefore he was happy that the track dried on day two and he could get in some time running on slicks. In the end he finished the day with the sixth fastest time (1'29.854) and as the leading Ducati, just 0.723s off the pace of the leading rider. The Spaniard completed 54 laps and was able to evaluate some new compounds that Michelin had brought and his overall feeling was a positive one.

The final day of testing at Phillip Island kicks off at 9.45am local time on Friday.

Hector Barbera: “I'm happy because today we could ride. From the beginning I felt comfortable and I quickly placed in the top five. I was in the top five all day and although in the end I finished sixth the feeling was very good. During my last stint I rode consistently in the low 1’30’s, which is a good pace. Regarding tyres, I tried the hard front and I didn’t like it as much, to me the soft works a little better. And with respect to the rear, I prefer the soft without any hesitation. We could not do more than 15 laps on each tyre and although this test is not a reference to the race because of the temperature difference, I am satisfied because we did well in Jerez, we have done well in Malaysia and here we are again performing above expectations. So we're meeting our goals.”
