Baz: “Last time out was not good”

Baz: “Last time out was not good”

It didn’t go to plan for Loris Baz at home in France, hopefully it will be a better weekend at his bike’s home race in Mugello.

A number of falls at the French GP promoted Loris Baz to 12th at the end of the race, saving what had been a disastrous home round. The main issue in Le Mans revolved around Baz’s lack of feeling with the front-end of his Ducati GP14.2, he and his Avintia Racing team still looking for a base setting with the newer Michelin tyres. With no upgrades available, Baz will focus on trying different settings to solve the front-end chatter issues in Mugello. In the past both Ducati and Baz have been competitive in Mugello, Baz taking 12th in 2015 with both Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Yakhnich) and Yonny Hernandez (Aspar Team MotoGP) ending inside the top ten on machinery similar to Baz’s current bike. While Baz had his home race last time out in Le Mans, his Ducati takes its turn to run at ‘home’ in Mugello. The atmosphere of Mugello is always special for riders in the MotoGP™ World Championship, being on a Ducati will no doubt bring Baz even more fans.

Loris Baz: “The last time out was not good, but as usual I head to Mugello eager to jump on my bike, it’s a special race with a special atmosphere. The only positive thing at Le Mans was that we scored points on Sunday, because after having had the pace during the first races, we were slow in France, but lucky to see the chequered flag in a race that many other riders didn’t finish. Now we have to hope and see if we can put it all together at Mugello, a track I like and where I was competitive last season. I’m sure that we can be fast with Ducati, because the engine is the strongest point of the bike. But first we’ll need to find a solution to our problem with the front tyre, because I don’t think that they will bring version 36 of their front tyre back. So we’ll work hard to reduce the chatter and then we’ll see.”
