Miller: “The race didn’t finish like we wanted”

Jack Miller looks to put the bad times of Mugello behind as he prepares for his home race in Europe.

With his Italian GP ending at the first corner of the first lap, Jack Miller’s Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya can almost certainly only be better. The result in Italy was especially disappointing as Miller and his Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS team had made progress in regards to his race pace and performance on the bike, hoping to return to the points after a season disrupted by injury.

"I’ve got to take the positives out of a bad situation and I definitely think we found some improvement with my race pace"

As with many of the Honda riders, setting up and handling the RC213V has been difficult in 2016, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) the only rider able to make the bike a consistent podium challenger. Racing in Barcelona offers Miller more hope of a good result, the track suiting Honda riders in the past. In 2015 the young Australian took 11th place, his best result in the MotoGP™ World Championship to date. The Montmelo circuit is in many ways Miller’s European 'home GP’ as he is based in Andorra, within driving distance of the circuit.

Jack Miller: “The race didn’t finish like we wanted in Mugello but I’ve got to take the positives out of a bad situation and I definitely think we found some improvement with my race pace in Italy. I can’t dwell too much on Mugello and I’ve got to forget about that and be fully concentrated on bouncing back with a strong performance in Barcelona. I’m really looking forward to this weekend. My European base is not too far away from Barcelona in Andorra, so it is like a second home race for me. I really like the track and it seems to suit the Honda as well, and last year I had my best result in MotoGP, so that also gives me confidence.”
