Rossi: “I’m able to be fast”

Valentino Rossi has no doubts about his speed and impatiently awaits hitting the track after being robbed of a result in Mugello.

With the Italian GP having ended in a cloud of smoke for Valentino Rossi, the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP man is out for revenge in Spain. His great rivals Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) battled for victory at his home while Rossi was forced to sit on the side-lines and watch, now it’s time to turn the tables. This technical DNF was Rossi’s first since the Valencia GP in 2007 when he suffered an engine failure as well. Rossi has won the race in Montmelo on six occasions in the top class, his most recent coming in 2009 and has a better overall record at the track than any other rider, having won a total ofnine races there. ‘The Doctor’ currently holds third place in the championship 37-points behind his teammate after his engine failure in Mugello and will do all he can to reduce the gap.

Rossi has had a number of incredible battles in Barcelona, including the infamous 2009 duel with Jorge Lorenzo. The final three laps of that thrilling race stand tall in MotoGP™ World Championship folklore, frequently brought up in debates over the best race of all time. In both 2014 and 2015, the rider who won the Catalan GP has gone on to win the world title, it’s set to be a very important race indeed.

Valentino Rossi: “The Catalunya Grand Prix is held at one of my favourite tracks. I like the circuit a lot as well as the atmosphere. I think that I can have a good potential to do a good race. I’m coming to Spain with the knowledge that I’m able to be fast, but also with regret for what would have been a great race at Mugello. The most important thing is that we were very fast on Sunday thanks to the work we did during the weekend. In Barcelona we have to work in the same way and get ready to race.”
