Rabat: “Now I can focus on continuing my recovery”

Points for Tito Rabat who was back racing at home just 15 days after breaking his left collarbone in Mugello.

Tito Rabat (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) was unsure if he’d be able to run at his home race after breaking his collarbone in Mugello during practice. But the Barcelona native was able to fight through the pain and on Sunday produced a heroic ride to take his first points since round three. Rabat wrestled his RC213V up to 14th place, adding an additional two points to his purse. The lone rookie in the MotoGP™ World Championship has collected a total of 13 points from the first seven races.

Monday gave Rabat and the team a day to test, free of the stresses of the race weekend. As a rookie, every lap on a MotoGP™ machine is valuable and more track time can only help. Rabat ended the one-day test in 18th place.

Tito Rabat: “I am really happy to finish inside the points in my home race and I want to thank all the people that helped me to get this result just over two weeks after I broke my collarbone. It was very a physically demanding race for me in the hot conditions but I’m so pleased to get more crucial mileage under my belt on the bike and I was able to gain a lot of experience, despite being less than 100% fit. I made a bad start in the race but I recovered well and made some good overtakes and I’m happy to finish. It has been a difficult weekend after the sad passing of Luis Salom and I was determined to finish for him. Now I can focus on continuing my recovery to be back to full fitness in Assen.”
