Bradl: “It will be a special weekend for me”

It’s time for Stefan Bradl’s moment in the spotlight as he heads for his home Grand Prix, boosted by a new swing arm.

Aprilia’s development has been aggressive in 2016, bringing out upgrades thick and fast. For the German GP the Noale based factory will bring a new swing arm and engine components. Stefan Bradl (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) will need all the help he can get, the German set to be the centre of attention at his home race. His 2016 season has so far been incredible, with 37 points he already has more than double what he scored throughout the entirety of 2015.

Unfortunately Bradl’s record at his home circuit is not as stellar in recent years. In 2012 and 2013 he was in the top five but in 2014 a tyre gamble saw Bradl finishes outside the points. Then in 2015 the German was forced to miss his home race due a wrist injury. It can only get better in 2016. A good result in Germany could also help Stefan Bradl's future in the paddock. With Aleix Espargaro and Sam Lowes set to join Aprilia in 2017, the German is currently without a ride.

Stefan Bradl: “It will be a special weekend for me. Many of my fans and friends will be at the Sachsenring to support me. Despite the track not being my favourite, the excitement of racing at home is always very strong. Especially this year, since in 2015 I missed the race in Germany before beginning my adventure with Aprilia. I hope that my RS-GP adapts well to this track. A good result is within our potential and, all things considered, it would be particularly satisfying for me.
