First top ten for Tito Rabat

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider stayed calm in the chaos for his best result to date

EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider Tito Rabat rode an excellent race from 20th on the grid in Brno, as the the tricky and constantly changing conditions at the 5.4km Czech circuit shuffled the pack and proved a wet-weather leveller of the field. Rabat, although having sometimes struggled in damper conditions, made a crucial choice on the grid to go with the hard compound front and rear Michelin wet weather tyres - which proved the combo to be on as the soft front tyre suffered and the early frontrunners began to move back through the field.

After a cautious start, the Spaniard began his move towards the front as the track dried, and was 12th with five laps remaining, before securing tenth with two laps to go - finishing ahead of Yonny Hernandez (PULL&BEAR Aspar Team) and a struggling Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team).

Tito Rabat: “This is a very positive result after a very difficult weekend with a lot of problems in the dry conditions. The start of the race was hard for me because I could not stay with the group ahead in the tricky conditions. But I focussed on adjusting to the conditions and our tyre choice was perfect as the track dried.  When I got to tenth with two laps to go I made sure to finish and score points.”
