McPhee: injury update

Scot remains in Australia following Phillip Island crash

John McPhee suffered a crash in the Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix through Lukey Heights and subsequently suffered a punctured lung, fractured thumb and a broken metacarpal in his left hand. After undergoing successful surgery, the Scotsman is now out of hospital and continuing his recovery in Australia ahead of being allowed to fly home – with his pulmonary function initially limited to 40%, the Peugeot MC Saxoprint rider has been unable to leave Australia as yet. Focus is now on making a full recovery as soon as possible, and getting ready for the 2017 season.

Terrel Thien, Team Manager: “John is on the best way to fully recover from his injuries quickly but he still must stay in Australia till December 5th. After surgery on injuries to his left hand he is ok, the operation went well. The fracture is fixed by two pins. Just one day prior to his flight back home to his native Scotland, the pins will removed from the operated left hand. Again, get well soon and good luck to him from all team members.”
