British Talent Cup: How to apply!

Everything you need to know if you’re interested in lining up in 2018

The new British Talent Cup recently launched in London - alongside the British Talent Team – and the competition is set to get underway in 2018. Soon it will be time for the grid to take shape and the selection process to get going, so here’s everything you need to know on how to apply.

First and foremost, applicants must be from the British Isles – that’s a UK or Republic of Ireland passport, including the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands – and have been born between January 1st, 2001 and December 31st, 2005. Also important is the cost, or lack thereof: competing in the Cup is free, with some travel expenses the only exception.

Road racing experience is not compulsory! Those who are honing their skills on other surfaces like dirt are more than welcome to sign up – it’s some high performance riding experience that is required. Most important, however, is talent.

The website for the Cup is the place to apply, and the initial process is from the 5th May to 18th June. The application form on the website is where you’ll be asked for information about you, your career and your experience.

The next stage will then see the chosen applicants invited to the Selection Event, which will take place in August during the week leading up to the British GP at Silverstone. Riders who make it through to this stage will be informed by late July.

At the Selection Event you will have the chance to show your riding ability at Silverstone on a Honda. Candidates invited to take part in this event must cover their own travel costs to Silverstone - but there are no additional fees for participating in the event.

After the candidates have been assessed at Silverstone, the final riders chosen to participate will be informed a few days following the Selection Event, ready to line up in the augural British Talent Cup in 2018.
