Barbera hails step forward with new riding style

Spaniard finished in the points in COTA and is looking forward to home race Jerez

Hector Barbera (Reale Avintia Racing) has had a tough start to 2017, first breaking his collarbone in preseason and then struggling to adapt to the GP16 Ducati fielded by the Reale Avintia squad this year. After deciding in the wake of the Argentina GP that it was his riding style that had to change, the Spaniard then found a step forward with this new tactic in the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin to cross the line in the points.

Next up is home race Jerez, with Barbera positive to keep progressing on a circuit he likes.

Hector Barbera, P14: "It was a very strange race, because although the result is not what we would like, I have taken a step forward with the new style of riding, the style required by this bike. It was the first weekend we did not change the bike, but I have changed. In the last five laps I have suffered a lot with the forearm, this is a very physical circuit and especially this year with so many more bumps. But I think we have to stay with the positives and we have finished closer to the other Ducatis. I thank the team for their patience and I will continue to work to the fullest. Besides the next race is Jerez  a circuit that I like and where we can do well."
