motogp.com catches up with the Marinelli Rivacold Snipers rider following his first win of the season

Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) returned to winning ways at the Circuit of the Americas, taking his second straight win in Texas and moving up to fourth in the Moto3™ title standings after three rounds. motogp.com caught up with the Championship challenger after his latest victory.

How does this victory feel?

Romano Fenati: “This victory is special. I wanted it to give confidence, if I needed to, to my team and sponsors, and to repay my fans for their endless encouragement. It’s also to thank my family and my friends who have always been with me. And then it’s also for me, for motivation and to get ready to face the next races. I dedicate it to Ascoli and all the people in the area who have suffered due to the terrible Earthquake there – and of course also to my team, sponsors and my family and friends.”

Did you expect the win?

Fenati: “The feelings have been positive since the first test, everything is very good with the team and the bike and I was calm. In those circumstances, victory has to arrive sooner to later…”

Does COTA feel like ‘your’ track?

Fenati: “It’s certainly a track I like a lot and I think that shows with two wins and a second place – but it’s not the only one. There are others for me, one of which is Jerez. Italian tracks like Mugello and Misano have something special about them, and you can feel the warmth of the crowd so much that it feels like they’re riding with you. It’s difficult to explain.”

So it’s another good track next: Jerez. How do you feel about it?

Fenati: “I think I’m charged up but calm at the same time. I don’t really set goals – I just go out there to race and have fun.”

Finally, you’re now fourth in the standings. So who do you think is your most dangerous rival?

Fenati: “I consider everyone on the grid a threat, from the first to the last. We’re only just starting the Championship and they can all still make a big step forward.”
