MotoGP™ Championship leader Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) has a 17 point cushion in the standings over Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) as the paddock moves from France to Italy, but the rider from Roses still feels the victory at Mugello could be a crucial point of the Championship. After taking Yamaha's 500th win last time out, the aim is simple: win number 501.
An incredible record at the track for the bike makes for good reading, and Viñales has a number of podiums at the circuit in the lower classes, as well as a victory. In MotoGP™, the Spaniard has also impressed, with sixth last year and a seventh in his rookie year in the premier class.
Maverick Viñales: “After the race in Le Mans I could only say that I‘m so happy and so pleased, the team was working at an incredibly high level and I‘m sure that we will continue like that. We have a really good bike for a circuit like Mugello, with a really good grip, and we have to make the most of that. With the championship being as competitive as it is, the next rounds will be all-decisive and it will be crucial to take the victory in Mugello, for sure I will keep fighting. We are going to push at our 100% and we‘ll try to do our best, as always.”
