Mir: “I studied my rivals - and tried it!”

Another win for the Majorcan – and in serious style

Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) left it late at the Catalan GP to mount his attack for the win, going from third to first in the final few corners and taking another stunning victory as he pulls clear in the Moto3™ title chase.

As well as announcing his title intentions in some style, Mir also announced his plans for 2018 at the Catalan GP – signing with EG 0,0 Marc VDS to move up to Moto2™ in 2018 on a three year deal with the team.

Joan Mir, P1: “It was an amazing race. The hottest race and most difficult for us! With the heat and the fact this track is a bit physical, I’m happy to manage the race like this and get the victory. I need to say thank you to my team because we improved a lot. I studied my rivals during the race and I tried it – it was difficult because I took a lot of risk, but I’m happy to get the win. I’m happy to have next year done, and with the best team I think, but this year I’m in Moto3 and I need to finish the best way I can – maybe in November you can ask me again!”
