Rossi off to a flier at Assen

The ‘Cathedral’’s most successful rider talks Day 1 at the #DutchGP

Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) has the most wins of anyone on the current grid at the TT Circuit Assen, and the ‘Doctor’ got off to a good start in his campaign to add to those stats in 2017. Ending Friday in sixth overall and even further up the timesheets in the morning, the number 46 says the day was tough – but that the feeling wasn’t bad.

Rossi also worked with a new chassis on the first day in the Netherlands, following up with some further fact finding after trying it for the first time at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the test recently. The verdict? “Not so bad…”

Valentino Rossi, P6: “This day was tough as always in Assen, but also quite positive for me because I was in the top five this morning and sixth position this afternoon. It is very important to stay in the top ten for Q2 tomorrow, because it looks like the weather tomorrow will be worse. We are quite lucky because we can work on the new chassis and the feeling is not so bad.”
