Lüthi: “Fourth is very important for the Championship”

Next year’s newly-announced premier class rookie was only one behind key rival Morbidelli at Silverstone

The British GP was a difficult weekend for Tom Lüthi (CarXpert Interwetten), and the Moto2™ title contender lined up ninth for the race – but did manage some good damage limitation on Sunday. Moving up to fourth, the Swiss veteran wasn’t able to crack the podium – but was only one place behind Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) over the line.

Added to a newly-signed MotoGP™ contract, it leaves Lüthi optimistic – feeling he’s close to being able to take the crown.

Good points for the championship. P4. Next one in 2 weeks. Misano. #12 #tomlüthi #britishgp

Tom Lüthi, P4: “It was hard and exhausting. The fourth place is very important for the championship also considering that it has been a hard weekend. I could drive faster but I wasn’t able to attack like I wanted to. I tried a counter-attack when Pasini passed me but immediately slided. Instead of trying to work a lot with the brakes, I tried to ride as cleanly as possible. Even though I had a good start and managed to break out of the third row from my ninth place, I rapidly lost contact with the leaders. I’ve given all my energy and I’m convinced that we’re really close to getting the title.”
