Iannone: "I hope I'll be able to make Misano a good race"

Team Suzuki Ecstar rider looking to bounce back after Silverstone

Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) is sure to feel a lot of support from the crowd at Misano, and the home hero is on a mission to bounce back after a difficult British GP. Crashing out in the latter stages and collecting compatriot Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing) made for a a difficult end to the day after having topped Warm Up – but being fastest on Sunday morning was another indicator of good progress for the Hamamatsu factory of late.

Iannone didn’t start the race at Misano last year after a crash in practice in which he cracked a vertebra, but the GP winner has taken a top five in MotoGP™ at the track and back-to-back wins in Moto2™ - the last Italian to win in the class until Lorenzo Baldassarri last season.

Andrea Iannone: "I hope that since Misano is my home race I will be able to make it a good one this year. So far the results have been below my expectations. I hope I’ll be able to have a better understanding of the situation and to react in the shortest time possible. In Silverstone’s race I struggled as well; I didn't feel very confident in race, but it’s strange because in practice we had some important improvements and I felt better with the GSX-RR. We must capitalize more on the improvements we make and to show them in the races. Let’s start back to Misano with a better understanding, and find more competitiveness, with the hope of getting better results."
