Resurfacing underway at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

Track surface and run off area changes for the classic venue

Resurfacing works are underway at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the project taking place during January. Aimed at increasing safety, the track will be fully resurfaced, and the run off area at Turn 13 will be extended.

“The works we’re doing this year are a complete resurfacing of the track,” explains Carles Fradera, Director of Infrastructure and Conservation at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. “We’ve skimmed seven centimetres off the surface, which will be replaced by one layer of three centimetres and one of four, which will be the final roll. We’re also increasing the run off area at Turn 13. Taking away the ‘H’, ‘C3’ and ‘C4’ grandstands has allowed us to extend the gravel run off by 20-25 metres.”

The stands will be moved to the next corner, and the Circuit will be back in action soon – with works scheduled to be finished by the start of February.
