Pedrosa leads FP1 as the pack shuffles in Argentina

Top three covered by less than a tenth as the lights go out for the first sessions at Termas de Rio Hondo – with some surprises

Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa shot to the top of FP1 at the Gran Premio Motul de la Republica Argentina in a late dash, topping the session by just 0.042 ahead of Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda Castrol) as Honda machinery took a 1-2. But Hamamatsu factory Suzuki had been ahead, with Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) just losing out in the final minutes and pushed down to third – only a further 0.041 back.

Reigning Champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), meanwhile, took sixth – just ahead of another previous winner at the venue, Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP), as some of the big names in the Championship and Championship fight were shuffled through the order. Points leader Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) was eighth, with last year’s winner Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) in P13…and Hafizh Syahrin (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) taking an impressive eleventh as top rookie.
