Binder betters Marquez by 0.002 on Sunday morning

South African snatches P1 on his final lap as Raffin grabs P3

Ahead of the Moto2™ race at the Michelin® Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Brad Binder went quickest in Warm Up to oust Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) by 0.002 on his final lap. A 1:36.628 was the fastest time, with Jesko Raffin (SAG Team) completing the top three as he moved up the timesheets on his final lap – 0.088 off top spot.

Pole man Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) was fourth fastest ahead of the race in Australia, 0.117 behind, with Augusto Fernandez (Pons HP40) fifth – 0.132 off Binder’s benchmark. Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) finished 11th, he’ll launch from a season’s worst P16, with main title rival Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) finishing Warm Up where he qualified: P20.

Marcel Schrötter (Dynavolt Intact GP) and Augusto Fernandez (Pons HP40) crashed at Turn 10 – riders ok, with Xavi Cardelus (Marinelli Snipers Team) heading to the medical centre after a crash.
