Lorenzo: “I’m a Ducati rider, I think about Ducati”

In the pre-event Press Conference, the Spaniard answered a question about where his priority lies regarding his injury…

Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) has been declared fit for this weekend’s Shell Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix after left wrist surgery and he was present in the pre-event Press Conference to speak about how he is feeling ahead of his injury return.

The five-time World Champion was asked what was more important for him: to race his last two GPs with Ducati despite the injury, or to be fully fit for his first test with Honda in Valencia. His answer? Pretty clear:

“No, the most important thing is to be able to practice in the morning, and then in the afternoon. It’s always the present, it’s always the next target. I’m a present guy,” explained the Spaniard, who, until the chequered flag is waved in Valencia, will solely focus on riding with the Bologna factory. “And I’m a Ducati rider and I think in Ducati. When I finish the season, I will think in my next team and my next challenge. Just in Ducati I think now.”

It’s important for Lorenzo to get back on the bike again as he hasn’t raced properly since Misano, with his Aragon GP ending after just once corner and his Thai GP crash giving him the fractured wrist that kept him out of the last three races.

“(I’ll) try to be here, try to get some rhythm, to try the bike again,” continued the number 99 rider. “If it’s possible to prolong my riding compared to Japan and if it’s possible to be competitive, even better. You never know. It can rain and it can be easier for the injury. So, we are here and depending on the feeling, I will see what I can do.”

Find out what Lorenzo can do when he and the rest of the MotoGP™ field head out for FP1 at 10:55 local time (GMT +8).
