MotoGP™ takes top billing as DAZN launches in Spain

The revolution begins in Madrid as the new home of MotoGP™ goes live

DAZN, the first global live and on demand sport streaming service, is now available in Spain after the official launch took place in Madrid on Wednesday. It marks the beginning of a new era for Spanish fans, with DAZN available on everything from mobile phones and tablets to desktop, Smart TV and consoles – from one account, up to five devices can enjoy two simultaneous streams. That makes MotoGP™ more accessible than ever before as the sport joins the likes of the FA Cup and, coming for the 2019/2020 season, the Premier League as fellow DAZN sports.

Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and reigning MotoGP™ World Champion Marc Marquez were both in attendance to mark the occasion, as were a host of other key names as the service goes live.

"It’s a step forward," says Carmelo Ezpeleta. "With DAZN we’ve reached quick agreements, with two Grands Prix shown free to air paired with their coverage of every day of competition. We think it’s the perfect moment to sign an agreement like this one, which we believe is the future of sport. With DAZN, we’re part of the future of sports broadcasting."

"Today a new era of sports broadcasting begins in Spain as we take another step towards becoming the leading service in global sports streaming," adds DAZN Southern Europe Executive Vice President Veronica Diquattro. "After months of preparation, we're proud to present an incredible catalogue of content, all available on one platform, for just 4,99 euros and without a permanent contract. For us, the fans come first and that's why we've decided upon a price that goes hand in hand with our launch proposal. DAZN will always be loyal to their commitment to make sport the most accessible and affordable it can be. We have already demonstrated in other markets that there's a better and more fair way to enjoy the best of sport; adapted to new ways of consuming content."

As well as launching the platform, the event also announced some key facets of their Spanish MotoGP™ coverage in 2019 – including the commentary team. The legendary voice of Ernest Riveras will be joined on DAZN by not one but two former Grand Prix frontrunners: Carlos Checa and Spain’s first ever premier class Champion, Alex Criville. Alongside them at each event, an incredible team of journalists, including Izaskun Ruiz, will bring the best of MotoGP™ to fans watching via the streaming service.

The launch also named several exciting ambassadors including reigning MotoGP™ World Champion Marquez, who joins the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr in the role. The seven-time Champion spoke on stage at the event.

“I’m proud to be an ambassador, it makes me proud and it’s a big responsibility because in some ways I’m representing Spanish riders," says Marquez. "MotoGP is such a huge sport in Spain and a sport where the fans don’t just follow it, they and live and breathe it – and we have four races here. As an athlete and a rider, alongside Dorna and DAZN, it’s our job to make sure the fans can enjoy the spectacle!"

The future is here and fans in Spain can now enjoy that spectacle on DAZN for just €4,99 – with one month free trial! CLICK HERE to head over to DAZN and get ready for the 2019 MotoGP™ season opener at Losail International Circuit in Qatar from the 8th to 10th March.
