Cecchinello explains Crutchlow's cycling mishap

LCR Honda Team Manager spoke to motogp.com pitlane reporter Simon Crafar during MotoGP™ FP1 about the Briton’s injuries

During FP1 at the HJC Helmets Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, LCR Honda Team Manager Lucio Cecchinello spoke to motogp.com pitlane reporter Simon Crafar about Cal Crutchlow’s (LCR Honda Castrol) injury picked up while cycling in the lead up to this weekend.

“Well the injury was unfortunately very unlucky because it was off the bike,” began Cecchinello, with the accident happening while Crutchlow was stationary. “He was checking something on his bike, his bicycle, and then unfortunately he crashed his knee on the asphalt.

“Of course we’ve made all the checks on his knee and it seems like there is some problem on the ligament on the knee. What’s fortunate at the moment is that it looks like he can ride the MotoGP bike this weekend so that’s quite a relief for us.”

It is also reported that Crutchlow has a small fracture at the top of his tibia, as well as an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right leg. The British rider completed FP1 at the Sachsening in P10 so, at the moment, it looks like Crutchlow will be ok to take part in the rest of the weekend.
