Marcs out of 10: Marquez sets another premier class record

Reigning World Champion beats an Agostini and Rossi record after notching up his 10th consecutive Sachsenring victory

Following on from his 10th straight Sachsenring pole position, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) made no mistake on Sunday as he collected German GP win number 10 on the bounce.

King of the Ring certainly reigned over his competitors once again but at the 2019 HJC Helmets Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, an incredible achievement was continued and it subsequently meant that Marquez surpassed MotoGP™ Legend Giacomo Agostini and nine-time Valentino Rossi (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP).

The number 93 notched up win number five of the season, meaning he’s now won five or more premier class races in a single campaign for seven-straight seasons – beating Agostini and Rossi’s six. The 15-time Champion achieved this feat between 1967 and 1972, with Rossi equalling his compatriot between 2001 and 2006.

Marquez’ number of wins in MotoGP™ seasons:

2013 – 6
2014 – 13
2015 – 5
2016 – 5
2017 – 6
2018 – 9
2019 – 5*

* after nine races

His lead in the title race is now 58 points over Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) as he takes a commanding lead into the second half of the season. But it's far from a done deal.
