Profile
After six years racing minibikes from 1993 to 1998 Jordi Torres moved up to race 50cc scooters and in 1999 won his first Catalunya Championship title. He won the Copa Gilera the following year. As well as racing scooters he also contested the 50cc RACC Open, his first taste of race bikes, and was selected to take part in the Copa Movistar after impressing at trials in Albacete. 2001 and 2002 were his first in the 125cc Spanish Championship but his considerable frame was proving to be a problem. So from 2003 to 2006 he contested the Spanish Supersport Championship on a Yamaha R6.
In 2007, he stepped up to Formula Extreme with Promoracing, again in the Spanish Championship. He started 2008 with Team Merson on a CBR 1000, but the budget dried up midway through the season and Torres returned to Promoracing. In 2009 he returned to Supersport with Gritful team, while in 2010 he contested the first season of the Moto2 Spanish Championship with PromoHarris. He then won the 2011 series by a comfortable margin with Team Laglisse, whilst also contesting ten rounds in the Moto2 world championship with the Aspar Team. In 2012 he was then called in by the Aspar Team full time after the departure of Toni Elías, and impressed sufficiently to keep his ride for 2013.
