Alexis Masbou is one of the latest crop of French riders trying to emulate the recent successes of the likes of Olivier Jacque and Randy de Puniet in Grand Prix racing. Masbou started to ride at eleven, joining the CDM moto school near Albi. He made his racing debut in 2001 in the 50cc Conti Cup and moved up to the 125 class the next year - taking sixth overall in his first season, and being named 'most promising rider'. The young rider moved up to 2nd overall the next year and also made his GP debut at Le Mans. In 2004, he clinched the French 125cc title and finished 6th overall in the European Championship. In 2005, he competed in his first full World Championship campaign with Ajo Motorsport but after a promising season and a fifth placed finish in Assen, his second year with the team proved to be more difficult due to injuries and technical problems. In 2007, Masbou returns to his roots, under the direction of Alain Bronec and Nicolas Dussauge with FFM Honda GP 125.
