Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher had a breakthrough year in 2007, undertaking his first full season in the 125cc class. Brought into the factory KTM team alongside Tomoyoshi Koyama and Stevie Bonsey, Krummenacher provided some surprises for the established order in the lower cylinder category with some of his rookie performances.

Making his debut in the Red Bull KTM Junior team in 2006, the Zurich-born teenager took 20th place on his debut at Donington Park and got close to the points in the Grands Prix of Germany and Portugal, finishing 16th at both events. That year he also entered the CEV Buckler Spanish Championship for the first time, with a podium at this debut race.

In 2007 one of the races of the season saw him battle with the leaders, eventually coming home in third for his first World Championship rostrum finish. He finished the year 14th overall. However, the after-effects of a mountain bike accident when training near his home in Switzerland saw him rushed to hospital at the second round of the 2008 season at Jerez, the emergency removal of his spleen forcing him to also miss the subsequent race at Estoril. In truth Krummenacher never fully regained his form or fitness as the season progressed and he later sat out two further races as he sought to fully recharge his batteries. Moving to the Degraaf Grand Prix team for the 2009 season alongside Danny Webb, Krummenacher hopes to get his career back on track.
