Pol Espargaro, petit frère du pilote 250cc Aleix, arriva dans le Championnat du Monde 125cc en 2006. Il participa aux six dernières courses de la saison et manqua de peu le titre de Rookie of the Year, un titre pour lequel il allait de nouveau se battre l’année suivante lors de sa première saison complète.

Espargaro remplaça Andrea Iannone dans le team Campetella Racing en 2006 et débuta en République Tchèque. Deux mois plus tard, il entra dans l’histoire en devenant le plus jeune pilote à se classer dans les points avec une 13è place à Catalunya à l’âge de 15 ans et huit jours. Il continua de briller dans le Championnat d’Espagne la même année, et remporta cinq courses avant de s’emparer du titre.

Il se fit de nouveau remarquer à domicile en 2007, en terminant respectivement quatrième et cinquième à Jerez et Catalunya. Dans le top six à Brno, Misano et Estoril cette saison, il monta pour la première fois sur le podium au Portugal et obtint finalement le titre de Rookie of the Year.

Il décrocha deux secondes places lors de sa seconde saison avec le team Belson Derbi en 2008, à Catalunya et lors de la toute première épreuve du Championnat du Monde à Indianapolis. Une blessure à la clavicule contractée lors des essais à Donington le força à manquer deux courses et à se contenter d’une neuvième place à la fin de l’année, un résultat identique à celui de 2007. Espargaro pilote pour Bainet Derbi en 2009.
