Storia del pilota

Famous for being the younger brother to Alex, the latest star to emerge from Brazilian motorcycle racing goes by the name of Cesar Barros. 28 year-old Barros’ arrival on the MotoGP scene has been somewhat delayed, and 2001 will see him contest his first full season in the blue riband class – although he does have GP experience having entered various races as a wildcard. He began racing in junior competitions, finishing second in the 49.9cc Brazilian Championship in 1980 before winning the series in ’81. After a long break from racing he made his comeback in 1997 with 5th place in the 125cc Brazilian Championship and 4th in the regional Championship of Sao Paolo. He made his MotoGP debut that same year in the 125 race at Brazil, making further 125 appearances in 1998 and ‘99 and turning out last season in the 250 category. In 2000 he also contested the Brazilian Supersport series, where he finished 3rd. He will line up for 2001 with the Kurz Aral team on a Yamaha 250.
