Alexis Masbou started to ride at eleven years of age and made his racing debut in 2001 in the 50cc Conti Cup and moved up to the 125cc class the next year. The next year he made his GP debut at Le Mans in the lower cylinder category. In 2004, he clinched the French 125cc title and finished sixth overall in the European Championship. In 2005 Masbou competed in his first full World Championship campaign with Ajo Motorsport, but in 2007 the Frenchman returned to his roots after a difficult 2006. In 2011 he returned to the world stage with Worldwide Race Team on a KTM, but 2012 was a more memorable year as he finally achieved a first ever podium in second place at Sachsenring, riding a Honda with Caretta Technology. 2013 saw him on-board an FTR Honda in the Moto3™ category again with Caretta. Masbou rode a Honda in 2014 under the banner of Ongetta-Rivacold, enjoying his best ever campaign and securing his first Grand Prix victory, at Brno. In 2015 he rode for the SAXOPRINT RTG team and won the first race of the year in Qatar, his only trip to the podium. RTG and Masbou remained together in 2016, switching to Peugeot machinery in the lightweight class.
