Rossi splits the Ducatis for a P2 start

Legend puts the brakes on the Desmosedici dream of a 1-2 in Austria

Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) has made big progress on his YZF M1 since Friday saw track action underway at the Red Bull Ring, and the veteran rider pushed to the limit in qualifying to split the factory Ducati Team of Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian is satisfied with the front row for Sunday’s race, concentrating on using the strengths of his Yamaha.

Valentino Rossi (P2): “I tried to push where my bike is very good – in the last sector and in T3. We’ve worked a lot today from this morning, when it was a difficult practice and we’ve improved a lot. In FP4 I was third behind the Ducatis but then we were able to make another small step before qualifying. To split the Ducatis was a great target – but I did a great lap and I’m very happy.”
