Baldassarri hits back in FP3

Italian improves to top Moto2™ third practice in Brno

Reigning champion Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) was the fastest man on Friday by two thousandths, but the points leader saw the field hit back in FP3 as Lorenzo Baldassarri (Forward Racing) topped the first session on Saturday, ahead of Dynavolt Intact GP’s Jonas Folger.

Tom Luthi (Garage Plus Interwetten) was P3, despite big separate incidents for both him and rival Baldassarri in FP3 with both riders soon back to the garage but both bikes suffering significant damage. Sam Lowes (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) made further progress on Saturday to join the top 5, with Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Alex Marquez showing more good pace to lock out the top 5, after the Spaniard topped FP1 on Friday.

Marcel Schrotter (AGR Team) continued his good form from Austria in P6, ahead of Hafizh Syahrin (Petronas Raceline Malaysia), followed by reigning champion Johann Zarco. Leopard Racing rookie duo Miguel Oliveira and Danny Kent locked out the top ten.

Championship contender Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP40) continued to struggle in Brno, with the Spaniard unable to move up the timesheets from P19 in FP3.
