Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) went fastest in FP1 at the Gran Premio Tribul Mastercard di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, just over two tenths tenth clear of teammate Franco Morbidelli before a highside at the end of the session for the rider from Cervera, who was subsequently taken to the Medical Center. Dominique Aegerter (Kiefer Racing) completed the top three.
There were a number of other crashers in the session, including 2016 winner Lorenzo Baldassarri (Forward Racing Team), Jorge Navarro (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) and Xavi Vierge (Tech 3 Racing).
