Mir top in FP1, Norrodin close on home turf

Newly crowned Champion takes to the top - with the local hero hot on his heels

Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) was quickest in FP1 for the lightweight class at Sepang, taking over from early pacesetter Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) as the two vie for the honour of being the most successful rider in Moto3™ history before the end of the season. Fenati ended the session in fourth. By the flag, it was SIC Racing Team's Adam Norrodin in second, with Livio Loi completing the top three on the second Leopard machine.

There were a number of crashers, including an incident at the final corner for Ayumu Sasaki (SIC Racing Team).
